Welcome to 208!
The educational program at P226M @ P208 services children ranging in ages from 8-10 with autism and intellectual disabilities, in 6:1:1, 8:1:1, and 12:1:1 classrooms. The program's aim is to address functional and academic needs, to increase social and behavioral competencies and to develop communication skills. The students are exposed to an age-appropriate academic curriculum. Fiction and non-fiction text, poetry, writing skills, higher-level computation and mathematical thinking skills are encouraged. There is an emphasis on participation in the Arts. Students attend dance, music and visual arts programs at the City's cultural institutions. The students are encouraged to present their own work at walk-troughs and special events.
Our staff includes instructional and related service providers to implement the services mandated by each student's IEP. In addition, every child participates in computer technology programming taught by a specialized teacher.
